The School District of Collier County is facing a serious overcrowding problem at nearly all schools in the district. They embarked on a major capital improvement plan to resolve the problem This plan included converting all of the existing K-5 elementrary shcools to K-6 schools through remodeling/reprogramming and major addition projects, while updating and modernizing the facilities to current District standards. At Highlands Elementrary, the final scope of work included new classrooms and labs, an expansion of the dining/multi-purpose room and stage, and a new P.E. shelter. The renovation work included ADA toilet upgrades and a new HVAC system with electrical upgrades.
