The Deerfield Beach Braithwaite Center for Active Aging is positioned for expanded programming inclusive of social services, care and case management, mental and physical fitness, creative pursuits, and social engagement for the senior community. The new facility delivers county-wide outreach, transportation ease and approachability, and unity of purpose to the greater community.
Transformed, the new environment emanates a fresh surge of vitality and a stately and appealing sense of place, replacing a ramshackle scattering of outworn outbuildings on its 3.9-acre Campus. With a roofed porte cochere entry, 100-plus parking spaces for cars and buses, and tropical landscaping, the one-story, 19,979 SF senior centric building features a reception lobby, administrative and counseling spaces, fitness room and wellness area, multipurpose rooms, a classroom, group meeting rooms, conference room and Board Room, warming kitchen and casual dining café and restrooms customized for the elder patrons.
The building is a mixed media of construction materials include brick, stucco, heavy timber, decorative metal, and sun-catching skylights to assure that the spaces are warm, inviting and comfortable for those participating in the programs.
Programming services include recreation activities, counseling and support groups, health-related lectures and screenings, emergency medical equipment, physical fitness apparatus and activities, library and computer services, nutritional counseling, and referral information for social services.
