Mayport Naval Station Fitness Center

Our team, as part of a Design-Build team, provided design for the construction of a 99,903 SF physical fitness center renovation and addition at the Mayport Naval Base. Year-round rescue swimmer training on base becomes a reality with the completion of a major renovation and expansion of its primary fitness center. The project included a new 50-meter indoor swimming pool with two movable bulkheads to simulate rough seas conditions and a Search and Rescue (SAR) Training area for simulation of helicopter drops into rough seas; two indoor multi-purpose basketball courts, two indoor racquetball courts; a spin room; full locker facilities; showers; steam room, and sauna. The facility also included a child care facility. The project achieved LEED Gold certification and incorporates AT/FP design. The firm’s services included programming, architectural design, interior design, LEED Coordination and Design, and construction administration. The facility was featured in The Military Engineer in an article co-authored by the firm, “Increasing Asset Value Through Creative Solutions.”
