The design team assisted the City staff with crafting a Master Plan and budget for a phased replacement of the City of Pompano Beach Public Services Complex located at 1201 NE 5th Avenue – Pompano Beach, FL. The existing campus includes a hodge-podge of individual buildings of different construction types, vintage and condition that get the job done but are beyond their useful life, make the site difficult to navigate, is lacking of communal spaces, training spaces, outdated maintenance facilities and equipment and the current arrangement makes it impossible to have a clear entry point for the public to enter and for staff to secure the campus.
The Master Planning exercise included interviewing Public Works departmental stakeholders and extracting the ideal scenario for improved community services included a comprehensive plan that includes the phased implementation of new spaces for the following divisions of Public Services: Public Services Administration, Engineering, Capital Improvements, Fleet Maintenance Garage, Capital Improvements, Street Maintenance, Grounds/Park Maintenance, Building Maintenance Division, Solid Waste and Recycling, Fueling Island and the area for the City Nursery.
The most complex component of this +/-$38 million Master Plan is the intricate multi-phase approach required to allow for new construction to occur without impacting the daily operations of the essential services that these often unsung heroes bring to the community every day.
